1 John 5:10
“He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who doesn’t believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son.”
What does 1 John 5:10 mean?
When you trust in Jesus, something shifts inside you—a kind of inner witness or confidence that what you've believed is true. It's not just an intellectual agreement, but something you know deeply, almost intuitively, about God's character and love. The second part might sound harsh, but it's actually describing something simpler: if you reject what God says about his Son (that he came, died, and rose for us), you're essentially calling God a liar. You're saying his testimony about Jesus isn't trustworthy. John isn't attacking you as a person here, but pointing out the logical tension: you can't simultaneously trust God and reject what he's most centrally told us about himself.
