What does 1 Corinthians 9:3 mean?
Paul is responding to criticism he'd been facing from some in the Corinthian church who questioned his authority as an apostle. Rather than getting defensive in an angry way, he's calmly preparing to explain himself to those questioning his credentials and choices. What follows in the next verses shows he's not going to be combative, but instead thoughtful and honest about why he does what he does.
