What does 1 Corinthians 3:4 mean?
Paul is calling out the church at Corinth for creating divisions based on which leader they preferred, as if following a particular person mattered more than following Jesus himself. He's asking them to recognize that this kind of loyalty to human teachers shows they're still caught up in worldly thinking rather than spiritual maturity. The point isn't that it's wrong to learn from different teachers or appreciate their gifts, but rather that splitting into rival camps and claiming one leader is superior sets people against each other and misses what Christian unity is actually about. If you find yourself more devoted to a pastor, author, or influencer than to Christ, or if you're judging other believers because they learn from someone different than you do, this verse might be speaking directly to where your heart is.
