1 Corinthians 3:16
“Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you?”
What does 1 Corinthians 3:16 mean?
Paul is reminding the Corinthians that God's Spirit actually dwells within their bodies, making each person sacred and worthy of respect. This wasn't a casual metaphor in that time, since temples were the most holy places in their world, reserved for God's presence. He's saying that you don't need a building or a priest to access God, because the Spirit of God is already living in you, right now, wherever you are. It's an invitation to recognize your own dignity and to care for yourself with the reverence you'd show a sacred space.
