What does 1 Corinthians 15:48 mean?

Paul is contrasting two kinds of existence here, drawing from the creation story where Adam was formed from dust. Just as Adam belonged to the earthly, physical realm and all of us inherited that earthly nature from him, there's also a heavenly nature available to those who follow Christ. He's saying that what we are now (limited, mortal, dust-like) doesn't have to define what we become, because we can take on a transformed, heavenly nature through Christ. It's an encouragement that our current struggles and limitations aren't permanent, and that we're invited into something greater.
