1 Corinthians 15:16
“For if the dead aren’t raised, neither has Christ been raised.”
What does 1 Corinthians 15:16 mean?
Paul is building a logical argument about what happens after death. He's saying that if there's no such thing as resurrection for anyone, then Jesus himself couldn't have been raised either, which would undermine the entire foundation of Christian faith. His point is that Christ's resurrection isn't separate from or disconnected from our own, but part of the same reality. If resurrection is impossible in general, it would be impossible for Jesus too, making his claims about conquering death hollow. This verse reminds us that our hope for eternal life is inseparably tied to what Christians believe happened with Jesus.
