What does 1 Corinthians 10:3 mean?

In the wilderness, the Israelites experienced God's miraculous provision through manna, the bread that fell from heaven each day. Paul is reminding the Corinthians that this wasn't just physical nourishment, but a sign of God's presence and care, which is why he calls it "spiritual food." He's drawing a connection between that Old Testament experience and the spiritual nourishment believers receive today through their relationship with God. The point is that God has always sustained his people, not just in body but in their deepest need for meaning, hope, and connection to him.
