What does 1 Chronicles 3:16 mean?

Jehoiakim was a king of Judah during the final, turbulent years before the Babylonian exile, and this verse shows that his line continued through his sons. Jeconiah (also called Coniah) would become king after his father, though he reigned for only about three months before being deported to Babylon. Zedekiah, the other son mentioned, later became king as well during the final siege of Jerusalem. This genealogical record matters because it traces the royal line through one of Judah's darkest political periods, when the nation faced invasion and exile, yet God's family line continued according to His promises.
