What does 1 Chronicles 13:12 mean?

David had just witnessed something terrifying: when the ark of the covenant was being transported, a man named Uzzah reached out to steady it as oxen stumbled, and God struck him down immediately. For David, this wasn't an abstract theological moment, it was a shocking, visible reminder that God's holiness is real and dangerous, not something to approach carelessly. His fear wasn't cowardice but a healthy recognition that you can't handle sacred things however you want, and that made him question whether he was even capable of bringing the ark to Jerusalem in the right way. Sometimes when we encounter God's seriousness in Scripture or in life, it stops us in our tracks and makes us ask hard questions about whether we're actually ready for what we're asking for.
