Zephaniah 2:3

Seek Yahweh, all you humble of the land, who have kept his ordinances. Seek righteousness. Seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of Yahweh’s anger.

What does Zephaniah 2:3 mean?

In a time of coming judgment, the prophet offers a lifeline: seek God and pursue what is right and humble, and you might find shelter when divine anger comes. This isn't a guarantee, but an invitation to align yourself with God's character before it's too late. Zephaniah lived during a period when Judah was spiritually adrift, so this message called people back to basics: faithful obedience, justice, and humility aren't just nice qualities but protective ones. The "day of Yahweh's anger" refers to a time of reckoning when consequences arrive, and the verse suggests that those who cultivate a genuine relationship with God and live according to his values won't be left defenseless when difficulty comes.
