Zechariah 9:11
“As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I have set free your prisoners from the pit in which is no water.”
What does Zechariah 9:11 mean?
God is speaking to His people here about a covenant made through sacrifice, one sealed in blood. The image of prisoners trapped in a waterless pit captures the desperation of being stuck without hope or relief, and God is saying He remembers His promise and will break those chains. This was especially meaningful to the original Jewish audience, who had been exiled and oppressed, but the deeper promise points to spiritual captivity—the ways sin, fear, or shame can trap us.
