Zechariah 5:10
“Then I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are these carrying the ephah basket?””
What does Zechariah 5:10 mean?
Zechariah is watching a strange vision unfold, and he does what any of us would do, he asks for clarification. An enormous basket (called an ephah, which was a standard grain measure) has just appeared, and now two women with wings are lifting it up to carry it away. The prophet wants to know where this basket is going, what it all means. This moment captures something very human, even in the midst of cosmic mystery, the prophet isn't afraid to ask direct questions. He's present and engaged, seeking understanding rather than staying silent. For us, it's a reminder that in prayer and faith, we're invited to ask God our questions too, and that curiosity and wonder aren't obstacles to belief, they're part of how we draw closer to truth.
