Zechariah 14:21
“Yes, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be holy to Yahweh of Armies; and all those who sacrifice will come and take of them, and cook in them. In that day there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of Yahweh of Armies.”
What does Zechariah 14:21 mean?
Zechariah uses everyday cooking pots to paint a picture of total transformation. When he says every pot will be holy, he means that ordinary life itself, the mundane stuff of daily existence, will be set apart for God. There won't be a division anymore between "sacred" things used in worship and "regular" things used at home, because everything will reflect God's presence and purpose. The final line about no Canaanites in God's house is pointing toward the end of spiritual compromise and corruption. In Zechariah's time, Canaanite practices and idolatry still influenced God's people, but this vision promises a future when such unfaithfulness is completely removed. The prophet is describing not just a physical place being purified, but God's people being fully devoted to him. For those of us reading today, it's a hopeful image: that one day, God's kingdom will be complete, and our whole lives, right down to the everyday moments, will reflect his holiness.
