Zechariah 1:5
βYour fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?β
What does Zechariah 1:5 mean?
Zechariah is reminding people that every generation passes away, including the faithful leaders who came before them. The prophets who spoke God's truth were real people with real lifespans, and they're gone now. This isn't meant to be depressing, though. Rather, it's a wake-up call: if even the great spiritual voices of the past didn't last forever, what makes this current generation think *they* can ignore God's messages and face no consequences? The point is to motivate people to listen and respond *now*, while they still have the chance, instead of putting off obedience or assuming they can coast on the faithfulness of their ancestors.
