Ruth 3:10
“He said, “You are blessed by Yahweh, my daughter. You have shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, because you didn’t follow young men, whether poor or rich.”
What does Ruth 3:10 mean?
Boaz is honoring Ruth for her faithfulness and wisdom during a vulnerable moment. He's noticed that even though she could have pursued younger men (who might have been more obvious matches), she chose integrity and loyalty to him instead. His words reflect deep respect, not just attraction. When he says she's "blessed by Yahweh," he's recognizing that her character itself is a kind of blessing—that her choices matter and have spiritual weight. In the context of Ruth's story, a poor foreign widow in a strange land had every reason to seek security however she could, but she chose to honor Boaz and to do things the right way. He sees that, and it moves him.
