What does Ruth 2:5 mean?

Boaz, a successful landowner, notices Ruth working in his fields and asks his foreman who she is. This simple question marks a turning point, because Boaz's attention and courtesy toward an unknown foreign woman would soon lead to her protection, provision, and ultimately her salvation from poverty and loneliness. The question shows genuine interest and care, which was countercultural in a time when poor migrant workers were often treated with indifference or contempt.
