What does Ruth 2:18 mean?
Ruth had been working in Boaz's field all day, gathering leftover grain to feed herself and Naomi. When she comes home with an entire ephah (a large measure) of barley, Naomi is shocked, because gleaners rarely collected so much. Naomi then does something crucial: she reveals that she had left some of her own food aside to give to Ruth, showing that even in poverty, she was trying to provide for her daughter-in-law's wellbeing.
