Ruth 2:12
“May Yahweh repay your work, and a full reward be given to you from Yahweh, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.””
What does Ruth 2:12 mean?
Boaz speaks these words to Ruth after watching her work hard in his fields, and he's essentially asking God to bless her generosity and faithfulness. The image of taking refuge under God's wings is one of the most tender descriptions in Scripture, capturing what it feels like to find shelter, protection, and belonging when you're vulnerable and far from home. Ruth was a foreigner, a widow with nothing, yet Boaz saw her character and invited her to find safety in God's care through his kindness. When life feels uncertain or you're navigating seasons of loss, this verse reminds us that God notices our efforts and our hearts, and that seeking shelter in him is always possible, no matter where we're starting from.
