Romans 9:5
“of whom are the fathers, and from whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen.”
What does Romans 9:5 mean?
Paul is celebrating the incredible privilege of the Jewish people, who were given God's promises and produced the lineage leading to Jesus. But here he makes a striking claim: the same Jesus who came in human flesh is also God himself, worthy of eternal blessing. This was Paul's way of affirming both Jesus' full humanity (he descended from the patriarchs and was truly Jewish) and his full divinity (he is Lord over all). If you're wrestling with who Jesus really is, this verse testifies that early followers saw him as both completely human and completely divine, and worthy of worship.
