Romans 8:39

What does Romans 8:39 mean?
Paul is wrapping up a powerful passage by saying that literally nothing in creation, no matter how we measure it or what we can imagine, has any power to cut us off from God's love for us in Christ. He's been listing things that might seem scary or separating (death, life, angels, rulers, present, future), and now he's saying: whatever else you can think of, it won't work. This lands especially hard if you're feeling distant from God or wondering if you've messed things up too badly. The verse isn't saying you'll feel constantly close to him, or that bad things won't happen. What it promises is that the fundamental connection of his love toward you cannot be severed by anything external to him. That's the anchor underneath everything.
