Romans 8:24
“For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees?”
What does Romans 8:24 mean?
When we became Christians, we stepped into a strange kind of salvation that's already real but not yet complete. Paul is pointing out that genuine hope always reaches toward something we don't yet possess or fully see, something we're trusting God for even though we can't hold it in our hands right now. If what we hoped for were already visible and guaranteed, it wouldn't really be hope at all, it would just be satisfaction. So our faith today is sustained by a kind of longing, a confident trust in God's promises about our future with him, even when our circumstances don't obviously show that those promises are coming true.
