Romans 8:20
“For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope”
What does Romans 8:20 mean?
The world around us, along with our own bodies and circumstances, often feels broken and temporary. Paul is saying this wasn't an accident or the creation's fault, but happened because of Adam's sin, which brought decay into everything God made. Yet there's a crucial word here: "in hope." Even in this condition of frustration and futility, creation isn't abandoned. Paul is assuring us that God allowed this brokenness with a purpose, knowing restoration is coming, and that gives us reason to trust even when life feels worn down and disappointing.
