What does Romans 5:16 mean?
Paul is contrasting two opposite outcomes that flow from one person's action. Through Adam's sin, judgment came and brought condemnation to all. But through Christ's gift, something far greater happened: that single act of grace covers not just one sin, but the accumulated weight of many sins, and transforms them into justification before God. The heart of this is that God's gift isn't measured on the same scale as human failure. One sin brought death, yes, but one act of grace brings life and freedom to anyone who receives it, no matter how many times they've fallen short. It's an encouragement that whatever your past looks like, the reach of Christ's forgiveness is longer and wider than the reach of your mistakes.
