What does Romans 4:22 mean?

Paul is explaining how Abraham's faith in God's promise was counted as righteousness, even though Abraham hadn't yet seen it fulfilled. Instead of earning righteousness through perfect obedience to laws (which Paul says is impossible), Abraham simply believed God, and that trust was enough. Paul uses Abraham's story to show that this same kind of faith-based righteousness is available to us too, not because we've earned it, but because we trust in what God has promised. It's a reminder that sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is believe God's word about us and our future, even when circumstances look uncertain.
