What does Romans 1:5 mean?
Paul is describing how Jesus transformed his entire purpose. Through Christ, he received both God's undeserved kindness and his calling as an apostle, but these weren't separate gifts—they were intertwined. That grace was meant to produce something: faith that actually changes how people live, spreading across all nations and pointing everything back to Jesus himself. This speaks to something beautiful about how God works. When we encounter grace, it naturally leads to obedience, not because we're forced but because we're genuinely changed. Paul saw his whole life's work as rooted in that one gift of grace from Jesus, and everything else flowed from there.
