What does Romans 1:25 mean?

Paul describes a fundamental human choice: we can either orient our lives around God and what is true about Him, or we can substitute something false in His place. When we do the latter, we inevitably end up treating created things—money, status, relationships, our own abilities—as if they deserve the devotion and ultimate allegiance that belong only to God. This isn't an abstract theological problem. It's the pattern of idolatry that shows up in everyday life: chasing after things that promise fulfillment but can never deliver it because they were never meant to bear that weight. Paul is inviting us to notice where we might be pouring our worship into something less than God, and to consider the relief of redirecting that longing toward the One who actually is worthy of it.
