Revelation 5:10
“and made us kings and priests to our God, and we will reign on the earth.””
What does Revelation 5:10 mean?
This verse captures something breathtaking about what Jesus has accomplished for those who follow him. Through his death and resurrection, he's lifted us from broken, separated lives into a completely new identity where we share in his royal authority and sacred calling. The imagery of "kings and priests" combines two roles that were once kept separate in Old Testament times: the power to rule and the privilege of standing before God on behalf of others. What John is describing here is a future reality that's already begun in our hearts now, where we're invited to participate in God's restoration work on earth rather than escape from it. This isn't about lording power over anyone, but about being restored to the purpose we were created for from the beginning.
