Revelation 16:15
““Behold, I come like a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his clothes, so that he doesn’t walk naked, and they see his shame.””
What does Revelation 16:15 mean?
Jesus is reminding us that his return will be sudden and unexpected, like a thief arriving without warning. The image of staying clothed and watchful means being spiritually prepared and morally faithful right now, not caught off guard in a state of spiritual carelessness or compromise. The "shame" of nakedness here speaks to the vulnerability and exposure of being unprepared when we finally meet him face to face. This isn't meant to frighten us, but rather to gently encourage us: if we stay attentive to our relationship with God and live with integrity today, we won't face that regret or embarrassment whenever his return comes. The blessing promised is for those who keep their spiritual guard up, not because God demands perfection, but because being ready and watchful actually protects us from the damage that carelessness does to our souls.
