What does Psalms 99:9 mean?

The psalmist is calling everyone to recognize God's greatness and approach him with reverence and respect. "His holy hill" refers to Mount Zion in Jerusalem, where God's temple stood, though the deeper invitation is to draw near to God himself with a heart oriented toward his holiness. What makes this call compelling is that it doesn't demand worship because God needs our praise, but because he genuinely is holy, set apart, and worthy of our honor. When we're going through difficult times, recognizing God's holiness can shift our perspective from feeling abandoned to understanding we're approaching someone infinitely greater and more trustworthy than our circumstances.
