Psalms 99:3
“Let them praise your great and awesome name. He is Holy!”
What does Psalms 99:3 mean?
God's name represents who he actually is, and this verse calls us to recognize something true about him: his greatness is real, his power is genuine, and he deserves our respect and wonder. When we praise his name, we're acknowledging that he's fundamentally different from us, completely worthy of reverence, and utterly set apart. The repeated emphasis on holiness isn't meant to keep us at a distance in fear, but to help us understand that when we approach God, we're meeting with someone far greater than ourselves, which is both humbling and strangely comforting when we're struggling with things too big for us to handle alone.
