What does Psalms 98:7 mean?

The psalmist is calling all of creation, from the mightiest oceans to every living creature, to join in praising God. When the sea "roars," it's not angry or threatening, but rather making the loudest, most vibrant sound it's capable of, the way it might celebrate or respond to something momentous. This verse invites us to imagine the whole earth itself, bursting with life and activity, offering praise to its Creator, and it reminds us that worship isn't just a human activity but something the natural world participates in too. There's something deeply comforting in that image, especially when we're struggling: we're not alone in our need to acknowledge God, because all of creation does the same.
