What does Psalms 94:23 mean?

This psalm speaks about how destructive choices naturally carry their own consequences. When people pursue wickedness deliberately, they set in motion a chain of harm that eventually catches up with them, not because God is punishing arbitrarily but because that's how moral reality works—evil undermines itself. The psalm writer finds comfort in this principle, especially when facing oppression or injustice. Rather than taking personal revenge on wrongdoers, the psalmist trusts that God sees what's happening and that those who persist in harming others will ultimately face the weight of their own actions. For people going through difficult times caused by others' cruelty, this offers reassurance that the universe isn't indifferent to wrongdoing, even when justice feels distant in the moment.
