Psalms 86:2
“Preserve my soul, for I am godly. You, my God, save your servant who trusts in you.”
What does Psalms 86:2 mean?
The psalmist is in real trouble and calling out to God with honest desperation, asking him to protect his life because he's trying to live right. There's a beautiful vulnerability here: he's not claiming perfection, but rather saying "I'm doing my best to follow you, so please don't abandon me now." When he calls himself God's servant, he's expressing complete dependence, like someone who knows their survival and peace depend entirely on God's care. This is the cry of someone in the middle of difficulty who has nowhere else to turn but trusts that God actually hears and responds to those who belong to him.
