Psalms 80:7
“Turn us again, God of Armies. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.”
What does Psalms 80:7 mean?
The psalmist here is crying out to God in a moment of deep need, asking him to turn his attention back to his people who feel abandoned or forgotten. "Turn us again" means to restore what's been broken, to bring us back into right relationship with you. When the prayer asks God to "cause your face to shine," it's using the image of a parent's warm, approving presence—the kind of attention that makes everything feel possible again. The writer believes that God's favor and presence are what truly save us, not military power or human strength, which is why this psalm is addressed to "God of Armies" yet asks for his personal care rather than weapons.
