What does Psalms 80:12 mean?

The psalmist is using the image of a vineyard that God has allowed to fall into disrepair. When a vineyard's protective walls crumble, anyone walking by can simply reach over and take the fruit that was meant to be carefully tended and harvested by the owner. The pain in this question is real: the speaker is asking God why he has stopped protecting what he once so carefully planted and guarded. This expresses the raw confusion many of us feel when God seems distant during our struggles, when the boundaries that once kept us safe seem to have collapsed, and when it feels like our hard work or faith is being taken from us without defense.
