Psalms 79:10
“Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Let it be known among the nations, before our eyes, that vengeance for your servants’ blood is being poured out.”
What does Psalms 79:10 mean?
The psalmist is crying out in anguish after a terrible defeat, watching enemies mock God's people and question whether God even exists or cares about them. This isn't about personal revenge so much as it is about God's reputation and justice: the psalmist is asking God to act decisively so that onlookers will see that God is real, powerful, and does defend those who belong to him. When you're suffering and everyone around you seems to be winning while you're losing, it can feel like God has abandoned you or isn't real at all.
