Psalms 78:46
βHe gave also their increase to the caterpillar, and their labor to the locust.β
What does Psalms 78:46 mean?
God sent locusts and caterpillars to destroy the crops the Egyptian people had worked so hard to grow, wiping out their harvest in a single plague. This is one of the ten plagues described in Exodus, where God was compelling Pharaoh to let the Israelite people go free. The image is stark: all that labor, all that hope invested in the fields, was consumed by insects in moments. It speaks to how powerless we can be against forces beyond our control, and how God's purposes can sometimes feel devastating to those caught in their path.
