Psalms 73:28
“But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.”
What does Psalms 73:28 mean?
The psalmist is saying that after all the confusion and doubt described earlier in this psalm, he's found his answer: closeness to God is what matters most. When life feels unfair or when we're struggling to understand why good people suffer, drawing near to God through prayer and trust becomes our true shelter, our place of safety and peace. By making God his refuge, the writer means he's choosing to trust and depend on God rather than on his own understanding of circumstances. And from that place of trust, he can authentically share with others what God has done. This isn't about pretending everything is fine, but about discovering that relationship with God is solid enough to hold us even when everything else seems shaky. That's the foundation from which genuine faith can be described to those around us.
