Psalms 69:14
“Deliver me out of the mire, and don’t let me sink. Let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters.”
What does Psalms 69:14 mean?
The psalmist is using vivid imagery of drowning and sinking mud to describe feeling overwhelmed by enemies and despair. When we're in deep pain or surrounded by people who wish us harm, life can feel like we're literally going under, unable to catch our breath. This prayer asks God to pull us out when we're in that helpless place, to be the solid ground beneath us when everything feels like quicksand.
