Psalms 65:1
“Praise waits for you, God, in Zion. To you shall vows be performed.”
What does Psalms 65:1 mean?
God's people gather in Zion (Jerusalem, the place of worship) holding their praise ready, like a gift wrapped and waiting to be given to him. The psalmist recognizes that worship isn't something we chase down or manufacture from nothing, but rather something that naturally waits in the hearts of those who trust God. When people make promises to God during difficult times or moments of deep conviction, this verse reminds us that fulfilling those vows matters, that God takes seriously the commitments we make in faith.
