Psalms 60:6
“God has spoken from his sanctuary: “I will triumph. I will divide Shechem, and measure out the valley of Succoth.”
What does Psalms 60:6 mean?
God is reminding his people of a promise he made long ago, when he allocated their land as a gift and swore he would bring them victory. Shechem and Succoth were real places in the territory he gave Israel, so by naming them, God is saying his ancient covenant still holds true and his purposes won't fail. When we're anxious about whether God's promises apply to us, this verse whispers that what he spoke in the past echoes into our present, and his faithfulness isn't dependent on our circumstances changing. It's an invitation to trust that God keeps his word, even when everything around us feels uncertain.
