Psalms 60:2
“You have made the land tremble. You have torn it. Mend its fractures, for it quakes.”
What does Psalms 60:2 mean?
The psalmist is crying out to God in the midst of what feels like complete upheaval, physical or spiritual. The trembling earth and torn ground are images of devastation and instability, capturing that raw moment when everything seems to be falling apart around you. When the psalmist asks God to "mend its fractures," there's both an accusation and a plea underneath: you broke this, now please fix it, because we can't survive this shaking alone.
