What does Psalms 59:9 mean?

When life feels unstable and threatening, the psalmist turns to God as the one reliable place of safety. A high tower in ancient times was a fortress where people could escape danger and see threats coming from a distance, so calling God a "high tower" means finding both protection and perspective in him. The psalmist isn't passive here either, he "watches for" God, meaning he actively looks for God's help and stays alert to how God is already working. This captures something real about faith during hard times: it's both about resting in God's strength and keeping your eyes open for how he's showing up.
