Psalms 58:7
“Let them vanish like water that flows away. When they draw the bow, let their arrows be made blunt.”
What does Psalms 58:7 mean?
The psalmist is asking God to render the wicked powerless, using vivid images of things that disappear or lose their effectiveness. Water that flows away evaporates and is gone, just as the psalmist wants his enemies' influence to vanish, while arrows that become blunt can't pierce or harm anyone. It's the language of someone in real distress, asking God to neutralize the threat posed by those who seem bent on causing harm.
