“Wake up, my glory! Wake up, lute and harp! I will wake up the dawn.”
What does Psalms 57:8 mean?
The psalmist is calling himself to action, speaking to his own soul (his "glory") and his musical instruments as if they're sleeping. He's decided that instead of waiting passively for morning to come, he'll be so full of praise and energy that he'll greet the dawn himself, almost summoning it through his worship. It's a beautiful picture of choosing to turn toward God and joy even in difficult circumstances, rather than letting despair keep you frozen.
