Psalms 51:19
“Then you will delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, in burnt offerings and in whole burnt offerings. Then they will offer bulls on your altar.”
What does Psalms 51:19 mean?
After David confesses his sin and experiences genuine repentance, he's saying that God doesn't actually want empty religious ceremonies, but rather the offerings that matter most: a broken spirit and a willing heart. Once our relationship with God is restored through honest confession, then our outward acts of worship and service become truly pleasing to him, because they flow from genuine devotion rather than obligation. The "sacrifices of righteousness" means doing what's right not for show, but because we've been transformed by God's forgiveness. It's a beautiful promise that when we stop pretending and start being real with God about our failures, our worship becomes something that actually brings him joy.
