What does Psalms 5:6 mean?
This psalm expresses a deep conviction that God actively opposes those who live by deception and violence. The poet isn't describing a distant, indifferent God, but one who is genuinely opposed to harm and dishonesty, the kind of character traits that tear apart community and trust. When we're hurt by liars or people who exploit others, this verse reminds us that God sees it and cares about it. He's not neutral about injustice. At the same time, it's worth sitting with the harder question the psalmist raises: if God abhors deception, what does that mean for moments when we ourselves have lied or acted without integrity?
