What does Psalms 42:3 mean?
This is the cry of someone in deep pain who feels abandoned, both by God and by people around them. The psalmist describes grief so consuming that it's like tears have replaced nourishment, while others mock their faith by asking where their God is. That question from others cuts especially deep when you're already struggling to sense God's presence yourself. What makes this psalm powerful is that it doesn't hide the pain or pretend everything is fine. Many of us know that particular ache of suffering while also facing judgment or skepticism from others, and this verse names it honestly.
