What does Psalms 37:39 mean?

When life feels overwhelming and you're not sure where to turn, this verse offers a steadying reminder: the people who trust God find their rescue and protection come directly from him, not from their own strength or resources. "Stronghold" is an old military term for a fortress, that one secure place where you're defended and safe when everything else feels vulnerable. The psalmist is saying that in your hardest moments, when trouble closes in, God himself becomes your refuge and the source of whatever deliverance or peace you need. This isn't a promise that problems disappear, but rather that you're not facing them alone or abandoned.
