Psalms 37:20
“But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of Yahweh shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish— vanish like smoke.”
What does Psalms 37:20 mean?
The psalmist is offering reassurance to people worried about powerful, unjust people around them. He's saying that those who oppose God and harm others may look impressive and secure right now, but their time is temporary and their fate is certain. Their apparent strength and beauty are as fleeting as wildflowers that bloom and quickly wither, or smoke that rises and disappears into nothing.
